Jilamara Arts and Crafts AssociationAmber is a Larrakia artist from Darwin, creating artworks that reflect her connection to Country.
Amber usually work with acrylic paints, using bold colours and contemporary crosshatch styles to share stories while she visit different lands and seas.
More recently, Amber has been learning the traditional practice of making my own paint using natural ochre. This journey began while spending time with family at Jilamarra, where she has had the privilege of learning from Tiwi people and gaining a deeper appreciation for the cultural knowledge and practices that was shared with her.
Through Amber’s artwork, she hope to honour her Larrakia identity while continuing to learn from and respect the knowledge shared by the Tiwi community. Each painting represents a connection to culture, Country, and the ongoing journey of learning.
