Magdalene Foster
Barkly Regional Arts“After rain, every plant grows – trees, grasses and flowers. My paintings are about the land. We go hunting, take the children to see Country, to collect bush medicine and bush tucker.”
Magdalene Kemarr Foster is an Alyawarr artist from a prominent family of painters from the Wutunugurra (Epenarra) community. Magdalene explores local landscapes in brilliant colours arranged in blocks of fine dotting. Magdalene is part of a group of emerging who have been significantly influenced by their elders, exploring the vibrant landscape of Iytwelepenty (the Davenport Ranges) with a contemporary take on the distinctive visual language established by the community’s elders.
