Malcolm Jungine
Mowanjum Art and Culture CentreMalcolm was born in Derby and is the second eldest of his siblings. Some of Malcolm’s life he grew up out on Gibb River Station with his father and mother, and all the families that lived there. Later his parents and siblings moved to Mowanjum.
Malcolm is Ngarinyin from both side of his parents. He also knows stories about the Wandjinas of the three tribes: the Worrorra, Ngarinyin and Wunumbul. He was taught culture and law from his elders.
Malcolm is now an emerging artist at the Mowanjum Art and Culture Centre. He positions landscapes behind traditional cultural images bringing a depth that distinguishes his work within the Centre.
Besides painting Malcolm loves to draw. As a very keen and enthusiastic fisherman and football player his subjects are generally fish and his football idols.
