Francine Kulitja
Walkatjara ArtFrancine Kulitja is the eldest daughter of renowned artist Rene Kulitja and the granddaughter of the late Topsy Tjulyata and Walter Pukutiwara, famed wood carvers and founders of Maruku. She was raised in Kaltukatjara (Docker River) in the remote southwest corner of the Northern Territory. Francine also spends time in the Mutitjulu Community within the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, where her family has long been involved in traditional land management, tourism, and the arts. She paints the Tjukurpa, or Creation Stories, that have been passed down to her through her mother, grandmother, and grandfather.
