Julie Yangkie

Julie Yangki (b. 1965) is a senior Pitjantjatjara woman, cultural knowledge holder, painter and renowned Tjanpi basket weaver. Through both painting and fibre work, Julie carries forward knowledge passed down through her family and generations of Aṉangu women.

Julie paints Antara, an important place connected to her family and Country. Her work reflects her deep cultural knowledge and enduring relationship with this ngurra, expressing the strength of Country, Tjukurpa and women’s cultural practice.
