About Mimili Maku Arts

Mimili Maku Arts is a contemporary art studio and cultural institution founded, owned and governed by Aṉangu from Mimili Community on the APY Lands. Guided by a strong board of local directors, the art centre creates opportunities for artists, arts workers and future generations to work, learn and lead from Country.

The studio is a place of creative freedom, cultural continuity and collective memory. Artists work across painting, printmaking, photography, new media and sculpture, developing ambitious contemporary practices shaped by Country, Tjukurpa, family and everyday life in Mimili. Alongside the studio program, Mimili Maku Arts supports bush camps, intergenerational learning, men’s and women’s programs, professional development, exhibitions and paid employment pathways.

When you purchase work through Mimili Maku Arts, you directly support the artist while also sustaining the wider ecosystem of the art centre: keeping the studio staffed, supplied and connected, and helping artists continue to create and share work from Mimili.
