Tahnee Day

Tahnee is a proud Gunditjmara, Wemba Wemba and Yorta Yorta woman whose practice is driven by curiosity, experimentation and a deep commitment to creative growth. Known for her intricate linework and distinctive use of acrylic paint pens, Tahnee embraces both traditional and unconventional materials, exploring everything from painting and illustration to fashion and textiles. Her practice is constantly evolving, reflecting a fearless approach to learning, storytelling and contemporary Blak expression.

Most recently, Tahnee expanded her creative practice through the Blak Design Program, presented by the Koorie Heritage Trust in partnership with The Ian Potter Foundation and RMIT University, culminating in the exhibition STITCHIN STORIES: BLAK & THREADLY in 2025. Her growing multidisciplinary practice continues to demonstrate the exciting directions contemporary Aboriginal art can take while remaining grounded in culture, identity and community.

Tahnee says: I’m excited to see this year’s Fashion awards and Country to Couture and see what other blak creatives are producing.

Darwin Art Fair marks another important milestone in Tahnee’s artistic journey. It also signals the beginning of an exciting period ahead, with several significant projects and new bodies of work set to be unveiled later this year. We look forward to sharing more as these opportunities come to life and to continuing to support Tahnee as her practice grows onto national platforms.
